Again, we apologise to keep you all waiting for so long. Things have been quite hectic lately, what with the maintaining of Skies of Croda as well as other enhancements to the site. Nevertheless, we try our best to keep to our word, continuing to translate and release new versions as promised.
The translations are getting more numerous and harder, so we hope you all will pardon us if our releases seem to be taking longer and longer. But, we still will try our very best to get them done as soon as we can.

As usual, known bugs and errors are fixed. Other changes include the armor descriptions being fully translated, as well as more of the item descriptions. We hope you guys will continue to report any errors and stuff so that we can make the patch better.

Queen vespoid Quest not bug you will kill vespoit in other area after that queen vespoint was born or see cat partner will dance if Queen appear

you have to kill the vespoids around the area and outside of the queen area, then you’ll see some more vespoids in the area where the queen is located. Kill them and the queen will come down. I know, i had troubles with it when i first played it. Hope this helps~

Can someone please PM me at benjie@tampabay.rr.com to help me. I’ve tried asking for help but nobody seems to get specific enough for a guy like me. I’ve purchased 2 copies of MHP2G for me and my son but I don’t know how to get the custom firmware that is needed to run the patch, I don’t know how to transfer our Monster Hunter Freedom 2 character files. I basically need step by step instructions as if I were a 5 year old because I’m just not tech savvy enough. Me and my son love the series and my son really wants to have the Felines come fight with us. Please…somebody help a pathetic Monster Hunter Fan.

here it is. first off you need one of the first slim’s or an original fatty(like me)
than to make it even easier go to the site psp-hacks.com it will explain all you need to get a cfw on your psp’s.
if that site doesn’t help you go to pspupdates.com it has everything including psp homebrew.
now IF THAT site doesn’t help you go to the site onehitgamer.com yes it is a site for hacking psp games but everyone at that site is nice and will help you. that was where i learned how to hack psp’s.
if none of that helps you….go to dark-alex.net that is the site of the creator of all the most known custom firmwares.
and if all that does not help you may jesus help you….but seriously all those sites each individually have more than enough information to help you get both psp’s into a custom firmware.
By the way thank you so much teamhgg. i love the patch. i used to play mhp2g in full Japanese becuase i figured it would be a good learning experience…it wasn’t. so i put yourpatch on my game and now im having a lot more fun since now i know what monsters i will be fighting when i initiate a quest.
p.s. hope 2.5 will finish all the weapon desc.

I’ve already found a typo, the upgrade to the akantor bow is called “Tyrant’s Wrack” I think it’s supposed to be Tyrants Wrath(sp?)

Holy crap! I’ve gotten so far. The Pandora battery, the “magic” card, installing custome firmware, the ISO extraction from the UMD I bought off Play Asia and now I’m down to the patch. I have both the ISO and the patch on my card and ready to go. I can even get the ISo to play fine on the PSP…only in japanese. I run the patch on the ISO and it says”patch complete” and prompts me to exit which I do. I then start up my ISO which has no changes to it whatsoever and still plays in japanese. Please help!!!!!

I was wondering how much of the weapons are translated. I looked at the screenshots and showed a whole bunch of translated weapons but I have yet to find a single one but I till in low rank missions so far. Also item and npc arent translated but in screenshot it shows village elder having translated text. I would like to know if I installed patch wrong…

Hey, everything is working perfectly for me, except it just isn’t working. I have the file in the correct place, I’m pretty sure my firmware is good, the only thing suspicious, is when I change it over to english, and then hit “okay”, the patching “completes” itself litterally instantly… but there is zero english on my game. Any suggestions?

Can’t change it, and when i select patch, it immediatly says patch complete, and nothing changes.

Wow. A lot of watching youtube and internet reading and I got it all working now. This patch is amazing and so worth my pain. Thanks to MPSP for PM’ng me and helping me out cuz nobody else did. Believe me most of those you tube videos are terrible and some outdated. For those that had/have the same problem I was having…right click on your ISO, go to properties and uncheck “read only”. This will allow the patch to work. Tough work but all worth it if you love the game which I do. Keep it up TeamHGG I’m a huge fan!

THIS SHOULD BE DULY NOTED FOR MAC USERS:
when you right click on your ISO, there is no “properties”, instead slect “get info”. Once there, there will not be a “read ony” option, but instead the option will most likely be aready set to “read and write”. what you must do, is unlock the ISO, but unchecking the “lock” button.

I’ve downloaded this patch (first time, so i downloaded the full thing), put it into my GAME folder, ran the patch but nothing happened to my game. it’s still in japanese. i selected english and everything, but when i clicked “patch”, the it immediately came up with the screen “the patch is complete” (no unpacking or anything) so that was my first clue that it wasn’t actually working. Any help? I’m running 4.01 M33-2 w/1.5 Kernel add on (if that makes any difference)

I got it working, you guys are awesome! thanks! btw, if others are reading this with the same problem i had, you have to unprotect your ISO. right click on the ISO and click on properties. Unselect the check box for “read only” (i unselected “archive” as well but i don’t know if that’s necessary).
THEN, go into your patcher and patch the game. You should see a process now, “1of21″ etc….
Also, make sure in your VshMenu that you have selected to play the game without UMD. hope this helped.

I downloaded the patch v2.4 unzipped, extracted, put into PSP/GAME tried to run the patch and cannot read error (80020148) occurs can you please send me an email to help out. PLUS my copy of monster hunter portable 2G is on UMD brought off ebay from japan, IT IS NOT A DOWNLOADED ISO FILE. I don’t know if that could be the problem. Great work you guys are doing, just hope that with some help I can enjoy the game in English like everyone else.

i dont know what’s wrong but whenever i go to run the patcher, i hit x on the word patch and then it stops blinking and then it waits a little and my entire psp shuts off. anybody got any soltutions?

Hi, this is very offtopic and I apologise but I have no other means of contacting you. I am currently working on my own translation project for a chinese plugin. I am doing this task on my own with no help and I would like to ask for some help regarding hex editing values that I need to put something in the place and there is not enough room, for example - there is the phrase ‘example’ followed by a blank byte and then another phrase, I need to put more in, can you help me please?

For people who are having trouble with the patch installation, it is important to make sure your disc image file is in the ISO format, and not some other format, such as CSO.

1. Unzip the Papimeru.
2. Plug in PSP via USB.
3. Copy Papimeru into GAME folder which is in the PSP folder.
4. Unplup PSP and run it like an app.

Hmm Weird.. I follow the steps for the Patcher but seemingly.. It doesnt seem to work, i downloaded v2.4 which i did the patch but when i press X on the patch, it automatically says Patch complete and when i go it still is in japanese. I have currently 4.01 M33-3 which is a Custom firmware, anything wrong with that? The File for the game is CSO if thats the problem mind sending a link for ISO?
And i follow the steps about the read only thing, the boxs are all unchecked and it doesnt seem to work… T.T Hmm.. I did change the File extension to ISO so it was regular MHP2G.CSO but changed it to ISO and then when i tried to patch it, it would freeze and then my psp would shut down.. Please Help

Omg I love this patch. It actually got me playing the Monster Hunter, a game which i never would have thought might be fun. But, there is some bugs. One of the things i noticed was that the item descriptions of the Wyvern Claw and Wyvern Fang is that instead of saying ‘ammunition’, it says ‘munition’. However, I still get the gist of it so its fine. I havent been looking out for other typos though. >< Still, when is the next update on the language patch coming out? I’ve been waiting so long!! Still, great job guys, i support you fully and I wouldn’t mind helping out with the translations. I have to warn you though, i know nothing about programming or Japanese. I have to say, I love your application, 2nd G has so many improvements that are worthwhile over Freedom 2.
I’m still finding quite a bit of things in Japanese in the town. Mainly every cat I come across and the first time I talked to the old lady. I’d really love to be able to see what my cat fighters are saying and I hope you guys have that translated in the next version.
I’m also running across a problem/glitch where some weapons at the shop just show a blank page when I use square to navigate to the armor skills page… the one that shows how a piece of armor you’re about to purchase effects your skill count in combination with your currently equipped pieces.
Anyways… keep up the good work guys… I can’t wait until this thing is 100% =)

there are 2 girls in the gathering hall that still speak Japanese and when you cancel text entry, the screen that asks if you want to cancel text entry is still in japanese. Other than this and the ones I posted earlier… almost everything else is in English.
I’m very impressed. I imagine you guys have logged tons of hours in the translation process. i just want to say that we all really appreciate your efforts and there would be many many of us that wouldn’t be playing this game if not for your efforts.
I was also wanting to ask about media install. No matter how many times I reinstall it, it will eventually say “media install corrupt” Will this problem be fixed in the future?

Re: Noob’s post: That happened to me at first because I was using a CSo file. You need to use an ISO file. I bought 2 copies of MHP2G and I don’t promote piracy so I would tell you to buy the game and rip the file off your purchased copy. I sure hope Capcom doesn’t shut this site down…I really want to have this game 100% translated! Keep up the good work TeamHGG.

In response to your question, yes it has to be in ISO format.
If the CSO is from a legally owned copy of yours or if, after you purchase your own copy, you need to convert an ISO to CSO or vice versa, a good program is called UMDGen. It will allow you to open an ISO or CSO and remove unneeded folders (such as the UPDATE folder) and even search for pad files to save more space. After you finish… you have the option to re-save the file as an ISO or a CSO.

Monster Hunter online requires XLink Kai and WiFi Maxx I believe. I’ve never tried it but hear good things…

I was playing last night and am coming across a lot of japanese in the quest info during missions… I’ll forget to look at what the goal is so I’ll try to check in the mission and it’ll all be in japanese.
but the main ones that have given me problems are un-translated items in the options menu… things like a couple of camera options that I have no idea what they do.
Also, I don’t know if its a glitch or its supposed to be that way, but a couple of armor pieces are labeled as “male” instead of the usual “blademaster” or “gunner”

yeah, all of the monster hunters have always been ad-hoc only, I think its the right step as it is productive in building friendship with people in real life. Online games just seem so cold in comparison. You can, however, play online via X-link Kai and any wifi-adapter. I would always recommend a wifi-adapter with an external antenna.

hey…im lookin for sum1 to play with using x link kai…currently on hr 6 an the g rank quest seems so hard..btw,u can convert ur save file using a program called laboko..google it..erm…when is 2.5 comin out? i hope u guys will finish the description for weapons…btw,great job!

Ok, I have not actually gotten the game yet, but will be ordering it. Now I just don’t know how to get the required CFW, my System Software is at 4.05, how do I get it to the required CFW?
I’m pretty sure I need 3.71 M33??? How do I get it?

I hope not because I dont feel like restarting all over again or have to actually convert saves. The American version is probably not gonna have everything the Japanese version has like certain weapons or armors because of that copyright
Playing via PS3 is great but I fear that they can check the FW on my PSP
Hope that the 2.5 update translate the Elder Feline completely and other conversations(don’t care much for item+weapon translations)

Hi all, I think what TeamHgg had done thus far is more than good enough to keep all of us occupied for the MHP2G patch game. Although there are still some japanese words here and there but I don’t think that’s a big issue. Myabe TeamHgg is busy with their own stuff and version 2.5 is not going to happen. So I urge all just stop asking teamhgg for version 2.5 and try to complete the game which I did with all the 2.4 version. No problem.

As for the next version, we are trying to finish up whatever we have for the items desc and some other stuff. Give us some more time.

This team is the best…you made me experienced MHP2G to the full standard…Even if cat beside the elder speaks in jap…I wish the next patch will be the full version…btw is there an easy to convert save data from MHF2 to MHP2G?

TeamHGG has no intention of creating a patch for Phantasy Star Portable since a US release has already been announced. Super Robot Wars, on the other hand….. coughcough.

We will absolutely stop our work on this patch if and when Capcom announces a U.S. release.
Creating a patch is hard enough, so all the more we understand how hard it is to create a game in the first place. We have absolutely no intention of competing with the real developers and publishers.
